Our yard is at Dillybrook Business Park, Southwick — about 25 minutes from Devizes via the A361, the A350 and the A363. The outdoor units are insulated steel containers on the ground floor with 24/7 drive-up access; the lower-cost units are inside an access-controlled building, on the hours shown on each unit.

About Devizes

Devizes is a Wiltshire market town that grew up around Devizes Castle, built in 1080, and received its first charter in 1141. Its name comes from the castle’s place on the boundaries of three manors — the castrum ad divisas, ‘the castle at the boundaries’. The castle changed hands several times during the Anarchy, and in the Civil War the town was besieged in 1643 before the Battle of Roundway Down; the castle was destroyed in 1648 on the orders of Parliament. From the 16th century Devizes was known for its textiles, in the mid 18th century it held the largest corn market in the West Country, and the Corn Exchange was built in 1857; the Wadworth Brewery was founded in the town in 1875.

The town has hundreds of listed buildings, a town hall and a green in the centre, and the Market Cross, rebuilt in 1814 to designs by James Wyatt, stands in the Market Place. The Wiltshire Museum, founded by the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society, has collections of national significance, including Bronze Age finds from the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site. Near Devizes the Kennet and Avon Canal climbs 29 locks, 16 of them in a straight line at Caen Hill; the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust runs a museum at The Wharf, and every Easter the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Marathon starts here. Devizes School has a sixth form, and the A361 runs through the town. Moving in, clearing out or between homes — our Southwick yard is about 25 minutes away.

From a locker to a 20 ft container

Units run from 15 sq ft to a 160 sq ft (20 ft) container. As a rough guide: 15 to 20 sq ft takes boxes, a bike or the contents of a box room; 29 to 40 sq ft a one-bedroom flat or a garage clear-out; 80 sq ft the contents of a two- or three-bedroom house; 160 sq ft a large family home or business stock. Clearing a house, loft or garage in Devizes? Pick the size and the move-in date that suit you, drive up to the door to load, and give two weeks’ notice when you’re done. There’s no deposit and no long-term contract, and no minimum stay — but a minimum of two weeks’ rent at full price applies.

For stock, tools, equipment or archive boxes, the outdoor containers have 24/7 drive-up access, so a van can load at the door at any hour. The 160 sq ft (20 ft) container takes business stock; 15 to 20 sq ft suits boxes.
