The outdoor units are insulated steel containers on the ground floor with 24/7 drive-up access; the lower-cost units are inside an access-controlled building, on the hours shown on each unit.

About Westbury

Westbury is a market town in west Wiltshire, below the north-western edge of Salisbury Plain, roughly midway between Trowbridge and Warminster. The manor was held by the king at the time of the Domesday survey in 1086, in 1252 Henry III granted a weekly Friday market and an annual fair, and the town was incorporated as a borough by royal charter in 1448. Like its neighbours in the Avon valley it was a centre of the cloth industry from the later 15th century — the last two mills, the Angel and Bitham, closed in 1969 — and it was known for its annual Hill Fair, where many sheep were sold in the 18th and 19th centuries. The railway arrived in 1848, and the station was rebuilt in 1899 as Westbury became an important junction.

Westbury today

The town centres on its Market Place and the Grade I listed All Saints’ Church, and the Westbury White Horse, in its present form since 1778, looks down from the slope of Salisbury Plain. Westbury station is where the Reading to Taunton line crosses the Wessex Main Line, and the A350 runs through the town towards the M4. Businesses on the Brook Lane industrial area include an Arla creamery that makes Anchor butter; Matravers School is the town’s secondary school; and the swimming pool, opened in 1888, is one of the oldest Victorian pools still in use in the country. Units run from 15 sq ft to a 160 sq ft (20 ft) container. As a rough guide: 15 to 20 sq ft takes boxes, a bike or the contents of a box room; 29 to 40 sq ft a one-bedroom flat or a garage clear-out; 80 sq ft the contents of a two- or three-bedroom house; 160 sq ft a large family home or business stock.
