Our yard is at Dillybrook Business Park, Southwick — about 15 minutes from Melksham via the A350, the A363 and the A361. The outdoor units are insulated steel containers on the ground floor with 24/7 drive-up access; the lower-cost units are inside an access-controlled building, on the hours shown on each unit.

About Melksham

Melksham is a town on the River Avon in Wiltshire, north-east of Trowbridge and south of Chippenham, with a parish population of 18,113 at the 2021 census. It developed at a ford across the Avon, and its name is thought to come from the Old English ‘meolc’, milk, and ‘ham’, a village. In 1268 Henry III gave the manor of Melksham to Amesbury Abbey. In 1815, after attempts to find coal uncovered two springs, the Melksham Spa Company built a crescent of six lodging houses with a pump room and hot and cold baths, hoping to rival Bath; the spa was never as successful as hoped, but the area is still known as The Spa. The town’s four-span bridge over the Avon dates from the late 18th century.

The 1968 Shell Guide to Wiltshire called Melksham the most industrialised town in the county after Swindon, and it still has varied industries: Avon Rubber moved in 2000 to a purpose-built site south of the town near Semington, and at Bowerhill, partly on the site of the former RAF Melksham training schools, are the UK headquarters of Knorr-Bremse and a regional headquarters for Herman Miller. Melksham Community Campus, opened in 2022, has a swimming pool, library and sports centre; Melksham Oak Community School opened at Bowerhill in 2010; and the town holds an annual Party in the Park, usually in July. The station is on the TransWilts line between Westbury and Swindon, and the town is on the A350. Moving in, clearing out or between homes — our Southwick yard is about 15 minutes away.

From a locker to a 20 ft container

Units run from 15 sq ft to a 160 sq ft (20 ft) container. As a rough guide: 15 to 20 sq ft takes boxes, a bike or the contents of a box room; 29 to 40 sq ft a one-bedroom flat or a garage clear-out; 80 sq ft the contents of a two- or three-bedroom house; 160 sq ft a large family home or business stock.
